# Binary Ninja

> Vector 35's commercial interactive disassembler, decompiler and debugger, whose decompiler is built on the BNIL family of intermediate languages and shows either C or BNIL for every officially supported architecture. Depending on the edition it decompiles x86/x86-64, ARMv7/Thumb2, AArch64, PowerPC, MIPS, RISC-V, MSP430, 6502, nanoMIPS, TriCore, C-SKY, M·CORE, Hexagon, NDS32 and TMS320C6x, and it loads raw binaries and PE/COFF, ELF, Mach-O, TE, Intel HEX, Motorola S-Record, TI-TXT, MD1ROM and VxWorks files. C++, Python and Rust APIs automate analysis inside or outside the UI; the open-source debugger runs locally or remotely on Windows, Linux and macOS and also connects to GDB, LLDB and iOS debugserver targets; patches can be made by editing assembly, in the hex editor or with the bundled SCC compiler; and 6.0 added an MCP server. Ultimate adds Firmware Ninja for embedded firmware, which finds code and data regions by entropy and detects memory-mapped I/O accesses, while the EFI Resolver workflow types protocol usage in UEFI PEI, DXE and SMM modules.

## Requirements & limits

- **Prerequisites:** Stable release at review: 6.0.10905 (6.0 Release 2, 2026-10-20), a bug-fix update to 6.0 (2026-09-03). One license covers Linux, macOS and Windows; tested hosts are Ubuntu 24.04/26.04 and macOS 15/26 (x64 or arm64) and Windows 10/11 (x64); minimums: 2 GHz multi-core CPU, 8 GB RAM, 4 GB disk. Needs Python 3.10+.
- **License:** Four editions: Free, Non-Commercial (Personal, non-commercial use only), Commercial and Ultimate. Paid licenses include a year of updates; versions released during support keep working after it. Online purchases are named licenses (one person, several machines). Only Commercial and Ultimate run plugins headlessly (import binaryninja without the GUI); Non-Commercial uses the API only from GUI-loaded plugins or the Python console.
- **License:** By edition, Free decompiles x86, x86-64, ARMv7, Thumb2 and AArch64; Non-Commercial and Commercial add PowerPC, MIPS, RISC-V, MSP430, 6502 and the MD1ROM loader; only Ultimate decompiles nanoMIPS, TriCore, C-SKY, M·CORE, Hexagon, NDS32 and TMS320C6x and has the VxWorks loader, Firmware Ninja, Binary Similarity and Ghidra Export.
- **Limits:** Free (non-commercial use or commercial evaluation) has no API or plugins and only disassembly, HLIL and Pseudo C views. The free browser-based Binary Ninja Cloud supports all architectures but requires uploading binaries to Vector 35, reads only PE, Mach-O and ELF, lacks API and plugins and has strict performance limits.
