# Sound Blaster AE-9: reconstructing Linux control from Windows driver analysis

> Sound Blaster AE-9 Linux support reconstructs card and Audio Control Module behavior using static analysis of Creative's Windows drivers and hardware observations. The included investigations document CtxHda.sys, CtxHdb.sys, and the ACM's SysEx-framed UART protocol; the driver implements selected playback and controls.

## Requirements & limits

- **Prerequisites:** Linux kernel 6.17 or newer, headers, DKMS, build tools, PipeWire, and WirePlumber are specified.
- **Prerequisites:** A Creative driver package is needed to extract a DSP firmware segment locally.
- **Limits:** The author reports support for 7 of 16 listed features across the card and Audio Control Module; recording is disabled because opening capture hard-locked the test machine.
- **License:** GPL-2.0 license.
