# Frida Workbench for VSCode

> Unofficial Visual Studio Code extension for Frida work. A sidebar lists apps and processes on local, Apple Simulator, USB and remote devices to attach, spawn or kill, and runtime panels browse an attached process's native modules and exports and its Java and Objective-C classes, methods and protocols; selected items generate Interceptor, Objective-C or Java hook scaffolds, optionally with GitHub Copilot-inferred native signatures, and Objective-C headers or Java class stubs can be dumped. A language server completes class, selector and module names from a live target, and the extension also scaffolds Frida agent and C-module projects, script-debugging configurations, syslog streaming and Android frida-server setup.

## Requirements & limits

- Latest release at review: v0.12.11, published 2026-09-29 as a .vsix package, whose tag is the reviewed main commit; package.json requires VS Code 1.94+. The extension is also listed on the Visual Studio Marketplace under the CodeColorist publisher. CHANGELOG.md's newest entry is v0.12.8, so later releases are not described there.
- Needs Python 3.7+ with the frida-tools package; because of PEP 668 the README recommends the workspace's active virtual environment, or pipx or uv. Targets need a working Frida setup: on Android the extension can download and start frida-server, iOS USB access from Windows needs iTunes kept open, libimobiledevice is optional for SSH shells, and iOS shells require a jailbroken device.
- The language server attaches to the live target named in .vscode/frida.json, which needs a device and exactly one of app, pid or process. Copilot-assisted hook generation depends on GitHub Copilot, and Objection is an optional external tool. Users supply their own devices, apps and processes.
- A community project, not affiliated with the Frida team; MIT-licensed.
