THE REVERSE ENGINEERING COLLECTION
About the collection and its sources
AwesomeREA.org is a collection of reverse-engineering tools, projects, case studies, and references.
REA and this collection
REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) is a separate upstream CLI and MCP project, and this collection takes its name from it. “REA” in entry tags and labels such as “Official REA documentation” refers to that project.
What is collected
1,253 curated resources; the published repository selection contains 3,500 captured records, including 3,309 browsable entries. The 187 scope-excluded entries and 4 whose upstream repository is no longer available remain in the published JSON. The paper bibliography lists 235 papers.
Evidence and updates
Curated descriptions are checked against primary sources, with requirements and review dates retained. Automated scans record sources, timestamps, README byte counts, Git blob identifiers, and SHA-256 hashes. Selection published: 2026-10-20 UTC.
Scope and review
Automatic discovery and curation are kept apart. Scope exclusions are tied to recorded README hashes and include bilingual reasons. Categories derive from metadata.
Languages and licenses
Original editorial content and code in this repository use the MIT license. Upstream projects and their descriptions retain their own licenses; license identifiers are metadata snapshots. The generated bilingual index preserves upstream text as description_original, and translations are AI-assisted.
Companion directory
AI Can What? — A directory of games, websites, and apps made with AI, plus environments, benchmarks, and datasets for training and evaluating agents. Each project retains original sources, development evidence, and practical limits.
