crashlens
A crash-triage tool that turns Linux core dumps, runtime panics, exception traces and sanitizer reports into Markdown bug reports naming the crash type, the first frame in the user’s code and a stable signature. Its core-dump path calls the REA CLI to read the recorded crash and the binary layout, and can ask REA’s Ghidra provider for pseudocode of stripped functions; a Claude Code plugin bundles a skill and read-only MCP tools. It is a debugging integration around REA, not a reconstruction case, and its diagnostic accuracy remains author-reported.

Requirements & limits
- Package 0.1.0 and plugin 0.2.0 are an early prototype. Panic, trace and ASan/LSan/UBSan text inputs need only Node.js 22.19+ or 24.11+. Core dumps need Linux x86-64, Python 3, rea-agents and a pwntools environment named by REA_PWNTOOLS_PYTHON; gdb, objdump and Ghidra 12.1.x with JDK 21 are optional. Windows minidumps and macOS crash reports remain roadmap items.
- Supply the core dump and the exact binary that crashed; crashlens compares GNU build IDs and warns on a mismatch. rea-agents 6.4.0 or later is an optional peer dependency, and the author describes only a pinned 6.4.0 as compatible.
- The plugin’s MCP server defines four read-only tools, analyze_failure, analyze_core_dump, decompile_function and analyze_crash_folder. Pseudocode is decompiler output, and crash types are heuristics with a stated confidence.
- The analyzed program is not executed; gdb runs with script auto-loading and debuginfod disabled. The optional --ai flag sends the report, including code snippets and log lines, to the Anthropic API; the local web app binds 127.0.0.1 behind a session token. Core dumps can hold secrets, and reports include local paths and register values.
- CI runs typechecks and unit tests on Node 22 and 24 plus an end-to-end NULL-dereference check with the latest rea-agents; the six-of-seven root-cause claim has no published transcripts.
- MIT, using MIT-licensed REA through its public CLI; Ghidra, the Anthropic API and analyzed programs keep their own terms.
