SoundConnect Desktop: a Windows client reusing a reviewed headset engine

A Windows Sony-headphone client adopts existing libmdr/libmdr-bt engine DLLs after a documented REA-assisted binary inventory and source review. The desktop interface is modeled on Sound Connect, while protocol implementation and device support are inherited rather than newly reconstructed.

Requirements & limits

  • Prerequisites: Requires Windows 10/11 and compatible Bluetooth headphones. Source builds need Node 24, pnpm 10, Rust MSVC and pinned engine DLLs or their Visual Studio/CMake build environment.
  • Attribution: REA inspected upstream PE resources, strings and provenance before engine adoption.
  • Limits: Only WH-1000XM4 hardware is reported tested; other models rely on upstream support. Concurrent phone-app control, XM4 paired-device mutations and 360 Reality Audio setup are unsupported; the installer is unsigned.
  • License: MIT covers the app and credited engine; Sony identification images retain Sony rights.
