Unleashed Recompiled: translating Xbox 360 game code and shaders

Builds an unofficial Sonic Unleashed PC port by statically recompiling Xbox 360 PowerPC code with XenonRecomp and Xenos shaders with XenosRecomp. The port adds modern display and modding options while documenting original-engine limits and remaining compatibility issues.

Requirements & limits

  • Prerequisites: Requires the user’s US or EU Xbox 360 game files and the title update; the Japanese release and PS3 files are unsupported by the reviewed installation guide. DLC is optional, and the project does not provide game assets.
  • Prerequisites: The README’s Windows/Linux baseline includes an AVX-capable CPU, 8 GB RAM and Direct3D 12.0 with Shader Model 6 or Vulkan 1.2 graphics. It lists Windows 10 version 1909 and a modern Linux distribution such as Ubuntu 22.04.
  • Prerequisites: Source builds require submodules, CMake 3.20+, C++20 tooling, vcpkg with VCPKG_ROOT configured, and matching executable/update/shader inputs. At the same revision, BUILDING.md documents Xcode 16.3+ and macOS presets while the README says macOS is not on the roadmap.
  • Limits: High-frame-rate gameplay glitches, loading stutters and ultrawide cutscene issues remain documented. Mods replacing the original executable or shaders are unsupported.
  • License: GPLv3 project license, with separate original-game and dependency terms. This is static recompilation.
